Greenpower 2011

Over a thousand school pupils gathered at Newquay airport this summer to race in electric cars that they had designed and built themselves. The annual event organised by Cornwall College allows young people to showcase their skills in design, maths, engineering, physics, building and marketing by competing in a variety of different races.

The regions primary schools competed in the annual 'Goblin' category, where they were faced with slalom, sprint, drag and race track timed heats.  The Greenpower Goblin kit car is designed specifically to offer primary school pupils a chance to get involved in a simple, practical engineering project that embraces many relevant aspects of science and technology in a fun and exciting way.

This short promotional trailer for Cornwall College features just a few of the highlights from this years challenge.
